About Us
A family business, building since 2007
R Twyns Construction is a licensed general contractor and remodeler working out of San Jose, CA. Tim Reynolds owns it. Ben, his VP, runs the jobs.
How this started
R Twyns Construction has been building in the South Bay since 2007. It is a family business, and it has stayed one: Tim Reynolds owns the company, his VP Ben runs the work, and the office is a phone somebody actually answers rather than a queue.
The houses here set the agenda. Postwar tracts in San Jose, Santa Clara and Sunnyvale with the kitchen walled off from everything else. Eichlers with post-and-beam framing, no attic and radiant tubing in the slab. Older homes in Willow Glen, Naglee Park and the Los Gatos Almond Grove with plaster walls, cast iron waste lines and floors that run downhill. None of that is standard work, and none of it goes well when a crew finds out about it after demo.
So we start with what is actually there. If a wall is carrying roof load, you hear it before you commit, not after. If the drain is on the wrong side of the slab, that is a conversation on day one. It is a slower way to write an estimate and a much shorter way to finish a job.
The shop
Our cabinets and finish carpentry are built in house. That is the part of this company that is hard to copy, and it is the reason we take on the older houses other builders would rather leave alone. When a room is out of square by an inch and a half, a stock box does not fit it, and no amount of scribe molding hides that. A cabinet drawn to the room’s real dimensions does.
It also changes what is possible. An odd width, an appliance panel, a built-in bench under a window, trim matched to what is already in a 1950s hallway — those are drawing changes for us rather than special orders with a lead time attached. Custom cabinets and finish carpentry is a service in its own right, and it runs through nearly everything else we do.

Where we work
Santa Clara, San Mateo, Alameda and San Benito counties, with most of the work close to home in San Jose and around Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Los Gatos and Palo Alto. There is no showroom to visit — the office is a working office and we come to the house. See the whole service area.
Thinking about a project? Call the office and you get the people who will be on the job, not a call center.
